Credit Hire Claims Handler (Full Training Provided)

Location: Knockholt, Kent

Salary: Starting from £27,000. Competitive, dependent on experience

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:30, plus Saturday 08:30 – 13:00 on a rota basis

Progress Vehicle Management (PVM) is a leading Credit Hire Organisation supporting motorists involved in non-fault road traffic accidents. We provide replacement vehicles, claims management services and recovery solutions, working closely with insurers, solicitors, repairers and industry partners to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Claims Handler to join our Claims Department. The Role

As a Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing claims from initial notification through to settlement and recovery. Acting as a key point of contact for customers, insurers, solicitors and third-party representatives, you will play an important role in ensuring claims are progressed efficiently whilst delivering exceptional customer service throughout the claims journey.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge within the credit hire industry and build a long-term career within a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of claims from inception through to settlement and recovery.
Maintain regular contact with customers, providing support and updates throughout the claims process.
Liaise with insurers, solicitors, repairers, engineers and third-party representatives to progress claims efficiently.
Obtain and review claim documentation, evidence and supporting information.
Assess liability and identify opportunities to maximise recovery.
Negotiate with insurers and third parties to achieve positive claim outcomes.
Proactively manage claim progression, ensuring key milestones and service standards are met.
Respond to telephone calls, emails and written correspondence in a professional and timely manner.
Maintain accurate and detailed records using the company's claims management system.
Identify and escalate complex claims or disputes where appropriate.
Work towards individual and team performance objectives and service standards.
Ensure claims are handled in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.

What We're Looking For

Essential

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to organise, prioritise and manage workload effectively.
Confidence using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Maths.

Experience & Knowledge (Desirable)

Previous experience within claims handling, insurance, credit hire or legal services.
Experience managing customer cases or workloads.
Understanding of motor claims, liability or recovery processes.
Experience negotiating with customers, insurers or third parties.

Transferable Skills (Also Considered)

Previous experience within customer service, administration, retail, hospitality, contact centres or other customer-facing roles.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
A genuine interest in developing a career within claims handling and the insurance sector.
