Amegreen Education is a group of independent SEND schools across West Berkshire. Our students require high levels of care, engagement and support, and we are committed to providing a positive and supportive environment for both students and staff.
To support staff wellbeing and promote a healthy work-life balance, our working hours are 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday, with minimal additional responsibilities outside these hours. Each day includes briefings and debriefings, and staff are provided with a free cooked lunch.
We also offer a dedicated weekly afternoon for CPD, planning and preparation when students are not on site.

Summary of role
The postholder will work under the direction of the Executive Headteacher to maintain a culture of excellence, in teaching and learning which recognises pupils’ individual worth. Supporting the community in promoting positive attitudes to learning amongst pupils and staff with an ability to offer relentless commitment to a cluster of very vulnerable young pupils and their families who need tailored adaptations to access education. All postholders will work with our SEND students across our educational settings.
Main responsibilities
The postholder will inspire, motivate and challenge students through high quality teaching, by managing behaviour effectively and ensuring a safe learning environment. The postholder will be responsible for promoting personal development and welfare of students fulfilling professional responsibilities including policy implementation and adherence to teacher standards. Contributing to the whole school improvement plan through curriculum development, upholding and promoting the schools’ values and pedagogy.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, evaluate and review learning programmes that reflect sound practice and facilitate physical, emotional, social, cultural and moral development
- Identify clear teaching objectives, learning outcomes and IEPs
- Build effective and supportive relationships with learners and families/carers: embed trust and support within the education process. Liaise with outside agencies as appropriate
- Create an inspirational learning environment with high expectations of learner achievement, success and progression, respecting individual differences in culture and background and reflecting this in the environment of the classroom
- Undertake relevant administrative tasks associated with the teaching function including examination, accreditation entries for learners, register taking and invigilation
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Degree or equivalent in specialist subject
- Ability to work with young people with wide ranging, complex, high behaviour and additional learning needs
- Relevant classroom teaching experience
- Able to effectively use a variety of organisational styles and resources including ICT to deliver outstanding teaching and learning
Desirable
- A recognised higher qualification with extensive experience in a teaching and planning with willingness to work towards QTS
- Experience in a SEN school/educational setting Experience working with pupils with ASD, ADHD and cognitive or communication delay
- Robust knowledge of behaviour techniques, theories and application
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential
Working pattern and benefits
- Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm, with minimal after-hours commitments
- Friday afternoons are CPD time with no students on site, plus 10 INSET days across the year

Pay: £32,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
