Job Title: Client Pet Care Assistant
Employment Type: Self-Employed / Freelance
Location: Community Based / Mobile Role (On-the-Go)
Reporting To: Management Team / Business Owner
Pay Structure: Per Service Completed (Not Hourly)

About the Role

We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and animal-loving individuals to join our growing team as a Client Pet Care Assistant.

This is a self-employed role, ideal for someone who enjoys flexible working and has a genuine passion for animal welfare. This is not a premises-based position — you will be travelling within your local area, visiting pets in their homes or carrying out booked pet care services.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality pet care while building positive relationships with both pets and owners.

Important Information About This Role

This position is not hourly paid employment.

As a self-employed Client Pet Care Assistant, payment is made per completed service booked with you, rather than by the hour.

This means:

You are paid only for services completed by you
Earnings depend on the number of bookings completed
This role offers flexibility but work is not guaranteed
You are expected to actively find and build your own client base

In addition to finding your own clients, we also:

Provide business referrals and enquiries
Add you to our company booking software system
Allocate suitable bookings where available
Support you with onboarding and guidance

Any clients referred through the business remain clients of [Business Name].

Key Responsibilities

As a Client Pet Care Assistant, your duties may include:

Dog walking
Pet visits and welfare checks
Feeding and watering pets
Administering medication (if trained and authorised)
Providing companionship and enrichment
Cleaning pet areas where necessary
Monitoring pet health and wellbeing
Reporting welfare or safeguarding concerns
Maintaining communication with clients
Updating booking information and visit notes

Requirements

We are looking for someone who is:

Passionate about animals
Reliable and trustworthy
Confident working independently
Comfortable travelling locally
Professional and customer-focused
Physically able to carry out pet care duties
Willing to learn and follow company procedures

Essential Requirements

Access to reliable transport (preferred depending on area)
Smartphone with internet access
Ability to travel locally
Good time management
Strong communication skills

Desirable

Previous animal experience
Animal care qualifications
Pet first aid knowledge
Experience with nervous or reactive animals

Safeguarding & Welfare

Animal welfare is our priority. All staff are expected to follow the standards outlined in the Animal Welfare Act 2006 (UK) and report any concerns relating to neglect, illness, injury, or unsafe environments.

Training will be provided.

Please Note

This is a self-employed opportunity and not an employed hourly-paid role. You will manage your own schedule and availability, with earnings based on services booked and completed with you.

This role is fully mobile and involves travelling between client locations within your chosen working area.
