Company Overview

Suicide prevention in GB is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to providing vital support for individuals facing mental health challenges and working tirelessly to prevent suicide. Our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals can access help and resources.
Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, organised, and reliable Safe Space Support Worker to support the delivery of our Safe Space services across Dewsbury and through virtual platforms. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where service users feel supported, valued, and heard.

The role involves attending and supporting both face-to-face and online Safe Space sessions, providing practical and emotional support to service users, and helping to ensure that safeguarding standards are consistently maintained. You will work closely with the Safe Space Director to uphold organisational policies and contribute to the effective planning and delivery of sessions and activities.

As part of the role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential service user records, ensuring information is handled in line with data protection requirements. You will also support the promotion of Safe Space services by assisting with social media content and website updates, helping to raise awareness and engagement within the local community.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding, and a genuine commitment to supporting individuals in a respectful and non-judgemental manner. Experience within community support, wellbeing services, or similar environments would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Provide empathetic support via in-person, virtual, or messaging channels.
Assist individuals by listening actively and offering reassurance.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational guidelines.
Support the delivery of mental health training sessions.
Collaborate with a team of volunteers to ensure prompt responses.
Promote awareness about mental health resources within the community.
Document interactions accurately while respecting privacy policies.
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills in English.
Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to help others.
Basic IT skills for virtual support platforms.
Experience or knowledge in dementia care is advantageous but not essential.
Ability to commit time flexibly around personal commitments.
DBS checks are preferred but not mandatory, as they can be arranged during training.
Prior volunteer experience in mental health or related fields is a plus.
