About Us

Church Hill Surgery is a small, friendly GP practice in South Norfolk, committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care to our local community. We pride ourselves on our supportive team environment and the excellent service we offer to our patients.

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, organised, and professional Receptionist to join our busy practice team on a permanent basis.

As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a key role in ensuring a positive patient experience and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the surgery. This is a varied and fast-paced role, suited to someone who enjoys working with people and thrives in a team environment.

Previous NHS or GP practice experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome and assist patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
Manage appointment bookings (face-to-face, telephone, and online)
Handle patient enquiries and direct them to the appropriate service or clinician
Answer incoming calls efficiently and accurately
Maintain and update patient records in line with practice procedures
Carry out general administrative duties (scanning, filing, data entry, document management)
Provide support to clinicians and the wider practice team
Ensure reception areas remain clean, safe, and welcoming

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Friendly, approachable, and patient-focused
Highly organised and able to multitask in a busy environment
A confident communicator with excellent telephone skills
Calm and professional under pressure
Reliable, flexible, and a strong team player

Essential Requirements

Experience in a customer-facing or administrative role
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good IT skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection

Desirable (but not essential)

Experience working in a GP practice or NHS setting
Knowledge of clinical systems (e.g. Systm One)
Understanding of medical terminology
