Full job description

Internal Sales Team Leader

Location: Hazleton, Cheltenham

Salary: Up to £35,000

Hours: Full-time 8am - 4pm

Are you an experienced internal sales or Customer Service professional who enjoys being hands-on while also supporting and developing others?

We’re looking for an Internal Sales Team Leader to join our client’s team in Cheltenham. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines strong customer service and commercial sales skills with the confidence to take day-to-day responsibility for a small internal sales function.

You’ll manage inbound sales activity, handle customer enquiries, quotations and orders, while providing leadership and support to a Sales Administrator.

The Role

Reporting to the Sales Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring customers receive a responsive, accurate and commercially focused service from initial enquiry through to delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing the sales inbox and responding to inbound customer enquiries by telephone and email.
Understanding customer requirements and identifying appropriate solutions.
Preparing accurate quotations and proactively following up opportunities.
Processing and progressing customer orders, ensuring accuracy and clear communication.
Building strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and retention.
Identifying additional sales opportunities and referring appropriate leads to the external sales team.
Maintaining accurate CRM and sales records.
Monitoring open orders and proactively identifying potential delays or issues.
Working closely with Operations, Production, Warehouse and Finance to ensure effective order fulfilment.
Providing day-to-day leadership and support to the Sales Administrator.
Allocating and prioritising workloads and ensuring enquiries are handled effectively.
Holding regular one-to-ones and supporting performance and development.
Coaching and supporting the Sales Administrator with more complex enquiries.
Identifying opportunities to improve internal sales processes and customer experience.
Providing sales activity and performance information to the Sales Manager.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has previous experience in internal sales, sales support or a commercially focused customer service environment, ideally with experience supervising or developing another team member.

You’ll be confident managing your own customer workload while providing direction and support to others.

Ideally, you’ll have:

Experience managing customer enquiries, quotations and orders.
Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the sales process.
Experience using CRM and ERP systems.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong organisation and attention to detail.
The ability to manage competing priorities and work at pace.
Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, construction equipment or another technical product environment would be advantageous.
