Full job description

Receptionist

Ellenborough Park Hotel, Cheltenham

Salary: £13.26 per hour, plus monthly non-contractual service charge
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, working a mixture of Early shifts (7:00am to 3:00pm) and Late shifts (3:00pm to 11:00pm), including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

At Ellenborough Park, our Reception team create the first and last impression for every guest. We are looking for a warm, professional and customer-focused Receptionist who enjoys delivering exceptional service and thrives in a busy hotel environment.

What you'll be doing

As Receptionist, you'll play a key role in ensuring every guest receives a seamless and welcoming experience from arrival through to departure. Your responsibilities will include:

Welcoming guests with a friendly, professional and efficient approach.
Managing guest check-ins and check-outs.
Handling guest enquiries, requests and reservations by telephone, email and in person.
Providing knowledgeable recommendations about the hotel, its facilities and the local area.
Working closely with Housekeeping, Reservations and other departments to ensure every stay runs smoothly.
Processing payments, managing guest accounts and following cash handling procedures accurately.
Operating the hotel switchboard and responding promptly to guest enquiries.
Upselling bedrooms, dining experiences and other hotel facilities where appropriate.
Resolving guest concerns professionally to ensure outstanding customer satisfaction.
Maintaining the highest standards of presentation, security and confidentiality at all times.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is:

Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with guests and colleagues.
Organised with excellent attention to detail.
Calm under pressure and able to multitask in a busy environment.
Comfortable using computer systems and learning new software.
A strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
Flexible to work a mixture of early and late shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.

Previous hotel reception experience would be an advantage, although experience within hospitality, retail or another customer-facing role will also be considered.
