Full job description

Job Summary
Due to our ongoing success and company growth, we are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support our finance team in managing daily financial operations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and processing transactions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their career within the legal finance sector, contributing to organisational efficiency and financial integrity.

Responsibilities

carrying out bank reconciliations;
dealing with the funds coming into the banks;
posting all types of transaction to the balance ledgers;
posting Registers of Scotland, and Land Registry, direct debit payments;
sending payments on to the banks;
running the accounts for remortgages, checking that the figures are accurate;
checking the details of any proceeds against the bank accounts for cases;
posting redemptions and proceeds to the batch ledger; and
posting fee notes, including client and borrower payments, and third-party fees.

Skills

Strong organisational skills with keen attention to detail
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software is desirable
Good numerical aptitude and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Prior experience or knowledge of legal accounting principles is advantageous
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning
