Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive General Operative – Shot Blasting & Paint Preparation to join our team. The successful candidate will support a range of workshop activities, with a primary focus on shot blasting and paint preparation. This is a hands-on role within a busy manufacturing environment, requiring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve production targets.

4-day working week: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:30pm.

Responsibilities

Carry out shot blasting operations to prepare surfaces for painting and finishing.
Undertake paint preparation duties, including masking, sanding, cleaning, and preparing components to specification.
Assist with the day-to-day operations of the workshop, including handling and moving materials and products safely.
Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, following all company procedures and safety protocols.
Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are maintained.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area to promote a safe working environment.
Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
Report any equipment faults, defects, or health and safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
Participate in training sessions to develop skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
Carry out general workshop duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience in a similar operative role is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Experience in shot blasting and/or paint preparation is highly desirable.
Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment would be beneficial.
Basic computer skills and the ability to use workplace computer systems are advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Good physical fitness, as the role may involve lifting and moving materials.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Basic understanding of health and safety regulations within an operational environment is preferred.
Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
