Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s largest rock and pop school. We teach fun and inclusive in-school band lessons to primary age children. Our mission is simple: to amplify children's self-belief and remove barriers to music education. Our beautiful converted manor house in rural Liphook is home to our central office teams. From there, we all play our part in supporting our band leaders to reach as many children as possible with their lessons. We’re now looking for a competent Accounts Assistant to join our dynamic finance team, to play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our finance function in a fast-paced, purpose-driven business.
This is a temporary role, for an initial 3 month period – but there is potential for a transition to a permanent position in future for the right candidate.
Reporting to the Senior accountant, you will be a highly organised individual with the ability to follow procedure, able to multitask in a busy environment and be an excellent communicator with strong computer literacy and Excel capabilities.
As an Accounts Assistant you will:
- Prepare accurate and timely management accounts, and variance analysis to budget and forecasts.
- Support with production and reconciliation of monthly payroll
- Posting Month end journals (accruals / prepayments)
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Process expenses for all employees
- Processing supplier invoices with accuracy in a timely manner
- Bank reconciliations
- Any other ad-hoc tasks required in the operation of the finance department.
As Accounts Assistant you’ll need:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a fast-growing environment
- Prior experience preparing monthly management accounts - including posting of all month end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll journals and preparing variance commentary
- Accountancy qualification or working towards such as AAT/ACCA/CIMA
- Good IT Proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word,)
- Excellent communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to keep track of a workload
- Comfortable working in periodic cycles
- Ability to spot areas for process improvement
- Experience with Xero would be an advantage
- Experience with direct debit management would be an advantage
