At our ARU Writtle campus, we specialise in animal, environmental, agricultural and horticultural courses, for learners aged 16 to 18, adult learners, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated lecturer in Agriculture to join our interdisciplinary team delivering high quality, innovative teaching across our Higher Education curricula.
Our undergraduate agriculture courses are forward thinking, and industry focussed. We are seeking applicants with knowledge of regional farming systems and specifically combinable / novel crop production and agronomy. You will play a key role in producing the graduates of the future well equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in a dynamic agri-food sector.

The successful candidate should have practical farming knowledge, hold a degree and a PhD or Professional Doctorate (or nearing completion within the first 18 months of employment). Experience of arable cropping and agronomy is a key requirement alongside a strong understanding of current agricultural challenges and policy change. A key part of the role is building and maintaining our strong links with local farms, industry partners and sector organisations.
You will be joining a professional and supportive team of specialists based at our Writtle Campus. Here our farm and green estate offer a living learning environment enabling real-world, scholarship-led teaching. We aim to transform students’ lives through our agricultural provision opening doors to successful lifelong graduate careers.
The successful appointee will be expected to play a pivotal role in designing and delivering student-centred, inquiry-led live projects, underpinned by collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders.
