Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead the team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy pub. This is a live-in position, with accommodation provided as part of the role. The ideal candidate will be passionate about hospitality, customer experience, and team leadership, with the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere while maintaining high operational standards.

It is a lively and fast-growing venue with a strong focus on live sport and creating a great atmosphere for all customers. We pride ourselves on offering a strong food menu alongside a vibrant social environment, with particularly busy Friday and Saturday nights attracting a younger crowd and high-energy atmosphere. The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in this type of environment and can confidently lead a team during both busy daytime sports trade and fast-paced weekend evenings.

The General Manager will work closely with the Area Manager to help drive the business forward, deliver the highest standards of customer experience, and continue developing the venue, team, and overall atmosphere. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing young company and play a key role in its future success.

Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of the pub, ensuring smooth and efficient service
Lead, motivate, and manage front-of-house and kitchen teams
Work closely with the Area Manager to implement business goals and improve overall performance
Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain high hospitality standards
Manage staff rotas, recruitment, training, and performance development
Monitor stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships
Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health & safety, and food hygiene regulations
Drive sales, profitability, and business growth through strong leadership and initiative
Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally and effectively
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and operational organization
Create a positive and energetic working environment for the teamHelp develop sports events, weekend trade, and customer engagement initiatives

Requirements

Previous management experience within hospitality, pub, bar, or restaurant environments is essential
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Good understanding of stock control, labour management, and business operations
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Confidence managing busy weekend and late-night trade
A hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills
Knowledge of licensing, food safety, and health & safety regulations
Organised, reliable, and professional attitude
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and busy service periods as required
Personal Licence Holder
