We have an opportunity for an experienced Branch Manager to join our team in Skipton on a full time, permanent basis.
Myers Building & Timber Supplies has 17 branches throughout Yorkshire and is part of the family-owned Myers Group. About the Branch Manager role:
As a key member of the MBTS branch management team, the primary aims of this role are to drive branch sales and margin and ensure the branch operates efficiently and safely. In doing so, this position plays a vital role in achieving the branch budgets and operational targets.

Duties and Responsibilities of our Branch Manager:
The following criteria are not listed in any order of importance as all areas identified require the individual to undertake the tasks with equal diligence and meet the desired and appropriate performance level.
- Contribute to the delivery of the MBTS sales and margin targets whilst maintaining a value proposition for the customer.
- Using the management information provided and supported by the central management team, plan, forecast and report on sales, costs and business performance as required.
- Provide proactive leadership to the branch team; communicating effectively, identifying training needs, managing performance, delegating tasks to direct reports and ensuring best overall utilization of the team whilst controlling overhead spend.
- Proactively drive customer growth in collaboration with the External Rep and Central Sales Exec: Convert new leads into trading customers, Convert existing cash customers to new branch, Grow branch account customers to key accounts.
- Using the information systems provided, proactively identify and address: Zero spending branch accounts, Declining branch customers, Declining categories, Slow moving & dead stock, Opportunities to increase basket spend e.g. upselling, impulse buys, Opportunities to grow market share in new categories
- Set a high standard of customer service within the branch, thereby sustaining customer satisfaction and loyalty: Liaise proactively with customers on a day to day basis to fulfil their requirements, Understand and solve customers’ problems, Identify and address areas where service can be improved, Establish SPAs for branch customers and ensure they are regularly reviewed & updated, Effectively deal with quotations for products and ensure they reach a conclusion, Liaise between the suppliers, colleagues and customers to efficiently answer general enquiries concerning deliveries and production.
- Apply various sales skills to capitalise on commercial opportunities through negotiation of prices.
- Contribute to a proactive culture of H&S, ensuring all staff, visitors and customers comply with the Company HSE policies and procedures.
- Ensure manager responsibilities for H&S are consistently met and appropriate records are kept.
- Manage operational activities, delegating where appropriate: Monitoring cash and payment systems; banking, Fabric and plant maintenance, Shop merchandising, layout and customer flow, Stock management: stock counting, IBTs, internal movements, cleanses, reconciliation of incoming and outgoing materials, Yard management, including plant & equipment, Transport scheduling & load planning, Maintenance of data integrity and accuracy on Bistrack
- Seek and continuously develop knowledge and information about competitor activity, pricing and tactics, and communicate this to relevant departments.
- Maintain and develop corporate image and reputation.
- Attend meetings and group discussions where required
- Any other reasonable duties which may be required by the Company from time to time, as instructed by or under the direction of your line manager.
