Full job description

Role Overview

This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of a small company fleet (under 10 vehicles), supplemented by hire vehicles and couriers, alongside all transport and logistics operations within the UK and internationally. You will oversee fleet compliance, routing, and scheduling, while ensuring all customs processes are handled accurately and efficiently.

The role requires a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) holder who can take ownership of operator licence compliance, manage drivers and vehicles, and coordinate hire vehicles and courier services as needed to support operations. You will work closely with project managers, warehouse teams, and international offices to ensure seamless logistics of equipment to and from sites.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain the company fleet (fewer than 10 vehicles), ensuring all vehicles are compliant with legal and safety requirements
Source, coordinate, and manage supplementary hire vehicles and courier services to meet operational demand
Oversee daily transport planning, scheduling, and routing of vehicles
Act as the nominated CPC holder, maintaining Operator Licence standards and obligations
Manage driver compliance including hours, tachographs, and working time regulations
Coordinate international shipments in tandem with the assets team, including carnets, customs clearance, and freight forwarding
Ensure all customs documentation is accurate and completed in line with current regulations
Liaise with freight agents, hauliers, courier providers, and customs brokers to ensure smooth global movements
Monitor transport and fleet costs (including hire and courier spend) and identify efficiencies across routes and logistics planning
Work closely with warehouse and project teams to align transport and fleet resources with operational needs
Maintain records, reporting, and compliance documentation for audits and inspections
Troubleshoot logistics issues in real time, ensuring minimal disruption to projects

Skills & Experience

Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
Proven experience managing a fleet, ideally within a small fleet environment supplemented by hire vehicles and couriers
Proven experience in transport management within logistics, production, or live events
Strong knowledge of UK and international transport regulations
Experience with customs processes, carnets, and international freight movements
Strong understanding of fleet management, vehicle maintenance scheduling, and compliance requirements
Confident using logistics and fleet management systems and transport planning tools
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Clear and effective communication across departments and external partners

High attention to detail, particularly around compliance and documentation
Flexible and adaptable to changing operational demands, including scaling resources up via hire vehicles or couriers at short notice

Adjusted cost monitoring and cross-team alignment lines to reflect the mixed fleet/hire/courier model
