Job Introduction

Level 3 Teaching Assistant

The Governors of Brook Primary School are looking to appoint an outstanding Level 3 Teaching Assistant who is enthusiastic, highly motivated and passionate about making a difference and helping to improve the learning opportunities for our children.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team which is ambitious for the success of all, where children have positive attitudes and a love of learning and where staff are valued and well supported by parents and governors.

Salary: Grade 5 (£20,020 to £21,820 actual salary)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks)

Closing date: Sunday 7 June 2026

Interviews: Week Commencing Monday 15th June 2026

Start Date: September 2026

We are looking for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant who:

Holds an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning
Has experience supporting pupils within the KS1/EYFScurriculum, including literacy and numeracy
Is confident working with whole classes, small groups, and individual pupils
Has experience working with children with additional needs, including those presenting challenging behaviours
Has First Aid training (or is willing to undertake training)
Demonstrates strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, alongside effective communication skills
Has the ability to build positive relationships to support all children in meeting their goals and reaching their full potential
Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and the overall well-being of all pupils
Is resilient and passionate about supporting the social, emotional, and mental well-being of young people
Is dedicated, creative, reflective, enthusiastic, and highly motivated
Works effectively as part of a team and actively supports teaching staff to raise standards
Enjoys working with children and strives for excellence and engagement in learning
Provides a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, organisational, communication, and time management skills
Is able to work with autonomy and take on responsibility where required
Adheres to and supports whole-school policies, practices, and ethos
Is willing to undertake ongoing professional development and training

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing support to pupils to achieve learning goals e.g. leading phonic sessions.
Providing support to pupils with additional needs/SEND.
Assisting the teacher with the planning of learning activities.
Assisting in maintaining classroom discipline through the implementation of the school’s behaviour management strategies.
Assisting with the day-to-day routines of a classroom including the preparation of resources.
Assisting the teacher in monitoring pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
