Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Prep Chef/Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. This role involves supporting the kitchen operations through food preparation, assisting with cooking tasks, and ensuring the smooth running of daily meal services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a keen eye for safety and cleanliness, and experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable restaurant experience.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, including chopping, peeling, and measuring
Support the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from head chefs
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen activities
Organise and clean work stations regularly to ensure a tidy and safe environment
Help with meal assembly and presentation to ensure quality standards are met
Follow health and safety regulations at all times, including proper handling of food and equipment
Support serving staff during busy periods by preparing food items or assisting with basic tasks

Experience

Previous experience in food preparation or a similar role within a restaurant or catering environment is preferred
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is essential
Experience with cooking or culinary tasks is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Familiarity with meal preparation, kitchen equipment, and basic cooking techniques is desirable
Prior experience in serving or working in a busy hospitality setting will be considered an asset

Pay: £12.71-£14.00 per hour
