Truscott Manor Care Home is a distinguished Victorian manor house set amidst 20 acres of scenic grounds, located conveniently between East Grinstead and Ashurst Wood. The facility offers comfortable, homely accommodation for elderly residents requiring nursing care.

<Job Summary>
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Care Home Activities Co-ordinator to enrich the lives of our residents through engaging and meaningful activities in the afternoons and weekends. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for enhancing well-being, with experience in event planning, recreational therapy, and senior care. As the Activities Co-ordinator, you will design and implement diverse activities hat promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical activity, fostering a vibrant community atmosphere within the home.

<Responsibilities>

To be responsible to the registered manager for planning and organising activity and therapeutic programmes for service users in line with their assessed needs and wishes as recorded in their care and support plans.
To offer activities and activity programmes for service users that reflect their individual and cultural interests, including religious beliefs; developed in line with equality and diversity policies and commitment to anti-discrimination.
To provide a well-thought-out set of activities that educate, entertain, provide therapeutic experiences and generally stimulate service users physically and/or mentally, and which improve their health and wellbeing in line with their care and support needs.
To involve service users in co-producing and developing suitable programmes of activity/entertainments that reflect their personal needs and interests.
To work closely with relatives, other staff and others involved in meeting service users’ care and support to ensure that the best possible outcomes for service users are achieved, and to comply with the care standards.
To work closely with any existing activities coordinator appointed by the organization.
To ensure that service users are fully safeguarded in their social activities.

<Skills>

To have experience, eg in a voluntary role of organising activity programmes
To have experience in a social care setting
To have an understanding of the difficulties and needs for individual stimulation and social engagement of service users, particularly of people living with impairments such as dementia and with complex needs
To have good planning, organising, networking and teamworking skills.
To have qualifications in a relevant profession, eg in occupational, art, music or cognitive therapy.
To have a vocational qualification in activity provision (eg at QCF Level 2/3 as outlined by Skills for Care Learning and Development recommendations)
To want to develop knowledge and skills in the role, eg by studying for an approved qualification (as described above)
