Full job description

About the Role

Accounts receivable is where strong customer relationships and accurate financial control meet. Payments need to arrive on time, account balances need to be correct, and queries need to be resolved before they interrupt cash flow.

As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will manage a portfolio of customer accounts and take responsibility for invoices, outstanding balances, payment allocation, account reconciliation, and collection activity. You will work closely with customers and internal finance teams to keep accounts accurate and ensure overdue balances are followed up professionally.

The position offers a combination of structured financial work and direct customer communication. One part of the day may involve reviewing an aged-debt report and contacting customers about overdue invoices, while another may involve allocating incoming payments, investigating a disputed charge, or reconciling an account before month-end.

Responsibilities

Manage assigned customer accounts and monitor outstanding balances.
Review aged receivables reports and prioritise overdue accounts for follow-up.
Contact customers by telephone and email regarding outstanding invoices.
Allocate incoming customer payments accurately against invoices and accounts.
Reconcile customer accounts and investigate unidentified or incorrectly allocated payments.
Issue account statements, invoice copies, and supporting documentation when requested.
Investigate invoice disputes and coordinate with internal departments to resolve queries.
Maintain accurate notes of collection activity, payment promises, and customer correspondence.
Monitor agreed payment arrangements and follow up when commitments are missed.
Identify high-risk or significantly overdue balances and escalate them appropriately.
Assist with credit-control procedures and customer account reviews.
Support the preparation of month-end accounts receivable information.
Reconcile sales-ledger balances and investigate discrepancies.
Process credit notes and account adjustments following appropriate approval.
Work with customer service, sales, and finance teams to resolve account issues.
Help maintain accurate customer master data and billing information.
Prepare reports covering overdue debt, collections, disputes, and account status.
Support improvements to invoicing, collection, and payment-allocation processes.

Pay: £2,300.00-£2,800.00 per month
