Full job description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and assisting with the timely production of financial information. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting career within a fast-paced and collaborative business environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss reports, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
Process payroll and prepare HMRC submissions.
Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, prepayments and journal entries.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting by gathering and analysing financial data.
Perform intercompany reconciliations and support group reporting requirements.
Process and maintain accurate financial transactions within the company's ERP system.
Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions when required.
Complete bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow reporting.
Work closely with colleagues across the business to resolve finance queries and obtain relevant financial information.
Provide support during external audits and assist with statutory reporting requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.

Qualifications & Experience

AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA or an equivalent professional qualification.
Previous experience in an accounts or finance role.
Good understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes.
Payroll administration experience is desirable but not essential.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP or accounting software.
Excellent numerical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience within a manufacturing or commercial environment would be advantageous.
