Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery Cook to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals and snacks tailored to young children’s dietary needs. Your enthusiasm for healthy food, combined with culinary expertise, will help create a positive mealtime experience that supports children's growth and development. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nurturing environment where children can thrive through healthy eating habits.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards.
Plan weekly menus that incorporate a variety of healthy ingredients suitable for young children.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering strictly to food safety regulations.
Monitor food storage conditions to ensure freshness and prevent contamination.
Serve meals and supervising children during mealtimes to promote good eating habits.
Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary requirements or allergies.
Keep detailed records of food inventories, meal preparations, and safety checks.

Qualifications

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles, preferably within childcare or similar settings is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper hygiene practices.
Strong skills in meal preparation.
Ability to work efficiently as a solo cook with some support from the wider nursery team.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff and engaging with children during mealtimes.
Certification in food safety is a plus but training can be provided on site.
