Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home specialising in senior care. The ideal candidate will have experience working within assisted living or nursing home environments, with a particular focus on dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating a variety of recreational programmes designed to enhance residents' quality of life, promote social interaction, and support their emotional well-being. The Activities Co-ordinator will play a vital role in creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere that caters to the diverse needs of our residents.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver a wide range of stimulating activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music sessions, reminiscence therapy, and gentle exercise programmes.
Foster an engaging environment that encourages social interaction, independence, and participation among residents.
Collaborate closely with care staff to assess individual needs and preferences, ensuring activities are appropriate for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
Maintain accurate records of activities undertaken and residents’ participation levels to monitor progress and adapt programmes accordingly.
Organise special events and outings that promote community involvement and enhance residents’ experiences.
Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote understanding of the activity programme’s benefits.

Qualifications

Experience working within assisted living or nursing home settings is highly desirable.
Prior involvement in senior care or dementia care is advantageous, particularly with Alzheimer’s care.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with older adults, including those with cognitive impairments.
Demonstrated organisational skills to plan, coordinate, and evaluate diverse activity programmes.
Compassionate approach with genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of older adults through meaningful engagement.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional care.
