Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining high standards of food safety, and ensuring the smooth operation of the café. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills within a vibrant hospitality environment. The role involves working in a fast-paced setting, supporting food and beverage preparation, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all customers.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including speciality coffees, adhering to quality standards.
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, and other light snacks.
Take orders accurately and serve customers in a courteous manner.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, dining areas, and equipment in compliance with food safety regulations.
Handle cash transactions accurately using the POS system and provide correct change.
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth service during shifts.
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold food safety standards.
Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery.

Skills

Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards.
Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
Experience in serving customers in a hospitality setting is advantageous.
Basic food preparation skills for assembling menu items efficiently.
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods.
Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately.
Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks and maintain workflow under pressure.
Friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills to enhance customer experience. This role offers an engaging environment for individuals passionate about hospitality and customer service, with opportunities for skill development within a supportive team.
Gratuities paid daily, meal provided on shift if 6 hours entitlement reached.

Pay: £12.50-£13.00 per hour
