The Role: Finance Assistant

We’re growing, and we’re looking for a detail-focused, organised finance professional who wants to be part of that journey.

As part of our finance team, you’ll be the operational backbone of the function — keeping transactions accurate and flowing across multiple systems and platforms. From daily cashflow and bank reconciliations through to payroll processing and card account management, you’ll cover real ground every day.

You’ll be trusted, supported, and given the opportunity to develop your skills as the business grows.

What You’ll Be Doing

Updating and reconciling the daily cashflow spreadsheet, ensuring figures agree to bank balances across all accounts
Posting bank transactions to NetSuite and alerting operational teams when customer funds are received
Managing and reconciling three spending card accounts (Amex, NatWest ClearSpend, Pleo) gathering receipts and posting to NetSuite
Processing weekly payroll via Xero, incorporating timesheets, overtime and HR-notified pay changes
Monitoring and managing the AP/AR shared inbox, actioning supplier invoices and customer queries promptly
Processing purchase invoices and setting up supplier payments via NatWest & FX Equals Bank
Assisting with sales invoicing for play frame projects via NetSuite
Managing expense claims — posting to NetSuite and setting up bank transfers
Supporting period-end close including monthly VAT return preparation and control account reconciliation
Maintaining fixed asset records and posting depreciation journals in Xero
Keeping records accurate and accessible on shared drives
Supporting the Finance Manager with management accounts, lender MI packs and ad hoc reporting
Building strong working relationships with colleagues across operations, maintenance and sales

What Makes You a Great Fit

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in accuracy and enjoys being part of a busy, hands-on team.

You’ll thrive here if you:

Have previous experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role
Are a confident user of accounting software — NetSuite and/or Xero experience strongly preferred
Have solid Excel skills, including the ability to maintain and reconcile spreadsheets
Have high attention to detail and take pride in getting things right
Are well-organised and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Communicate clearly and work well with people across the business
Can work independently and use your initiative when needed
Have experience processing payroll — desirable but not essential, we’ll support you to learn
Hold or be studying towards an AAT qualification— desirable but not required

You don’t need to know everything — we’ll support you to learn the rest.

Working Pattern

Full-time position
Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30
Based on-site in Kingsbridge/Exeter.
