Service Engineer – Heat Interface Units (HIUs) - London & Surrounding Areas

As the UK's district heating and heat network sector continues to grow, we're looking for a skilled and motivated Service Engineer to join our expanding team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems, and delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining and servicing Heat Interface Units (HIUs) across a diverse portfolio of properties.

The Role

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault finding, repair, and commissioning of Heat Interface Units (HIUs) and associated heating system components across London and surrounding areas.

You'll be the face of YGHP on-site, ensuring customers receive a professional, efficient, and high-quality service while helping maintain the reliability and efficiency of heat network systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesService & Maintenance

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a variety of Heat Interface Units.
Diagnose and repair faults on HIUs, control systems, valves, pumps, heat meters and associated equipment.
Conduct annual servicing in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.
Perform commissioning and recommissioning of HIU systems.
Complete system performance checks and optimisation works.

Fault Finding & Repairs

Investigate and resolve heating and hot water issues.
Identify root causes of system failures and implement effective solutions.
Replace defective components and carry out remedial works.
Escalate complex technical issues where necessary.

Customer Service

Provide a professional and courteous service to residents, clients and property managers.
Clearly explain findings and recommendations to customers.
Represent YGHP's values and commitment to quality on every visit.

Documentation & Compliance

Complete digital service reports and job sheets accurately.
Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations.
Ensure company vehicles, tools and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
Adhere to all site-specific procedures and permit requirements.

What We're Looking ForEssential Skills & Experience

✔ Experience servicing and maintaining Heat Interface Units (HIUs)

✔ Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

✔ Good understanding of heating systems, hydraulics and control systems

✔ Experience working within district heating or communal heating systems

✔ Ability to work independently and manage your own workload

✔ Excellent communication and customer service skills

✔ Full UK Driving Licence (No more than 6 points)

✔ Strong commitment to health and safety standards

Desirable Qualifications

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating
Unvented Hot Water Qualification (G3)
Electrical fault-finding experience
Experience with heat meters and BMS systems
District heating or energy centre experience
