Deputy Nursery Manager - URGENT

Tiny Treasures Day Nursery, Liverpool About Us We are Tiny Treasures Day Nursery, a brand-new, purpose-built setting in Liverpool, dedicated to providing warm, safe, and inspiring care and education for children from birth to 5 years. We believe every child deserves the best start in life, and safeguarding and protecting children is our absolute priority. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and work to meet and exceed Ofsted standards, building a team that puts children’s wellbeing first.

Role Overview

Position: Deputy Nursery Manager Location: Liverpool, Walton, Merseyside Salary: £26,500 – £32,000 per annum (average market rate for Deputy Nursery Managers in Liverpool, dependent on qualifications and experience)

Hours: Full-time / Permanent Start Date: As soon as possible - Urgent

You will support the Nursery Manager in leading, managing, and empowering our team, ensuring the nursery operates safely, effectively, and in line with all statutory requirements. You will act as a key lead for safeguarding and quality practice, helping shape our new setting’s culture from day one.

Key Responsibilities

All aligned with the EYFS Statutory Framework and Ofsted requirements

Safeguarding & Child Protection (Core Priority) - Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL, fully trained and up to date with Working Together to Safeguard Children, Keeping Children Safe in Education, and local safeguarding board procedures. - Ensure all safeguarding policies, procedures, and risk assessments are implemented, reviewed, and followed consistently across the nursery. - Lead on identifying and responding to any safeguarding concerns, making timely referrals to children’s social care or other agencies as required, and maintaining accurate, confidential records. - Ensure all staff receive regular safeguarding training, understand their duty to protect children, and feel confident to raise concerns. - Promote a culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and children’s safety and welfare are prioritised above all else. - Ensure the nursery meets all requirements under the EYFS Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements.

Leadership & Management - Support the Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, deputising fully in their absence. - Lead and motivate the team, supporting professional development, mentoring, and performance management. - Ensure the learning environment is safe, stimulating, inclusive, and meets EYFS standards. - Oversee health & safety, risk assessments, hygiene, and security procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and Ofsted expectations. - Maintain accurate records, registers, accident/incident logs, medication records, and other statutory documentation.

EYFS & Education Practice - Ensure all activities and care are planned and delivered in line with the EYFS principles and learning requirements. - Support staff in observing, assessing, and planning for children’s individual development and needs. - Ensure inclusive practice for children with SEND, following the graduated approach and working with external professionals. - Monitor and improve the quality of provision, helping prepare for Ofsted inspections.

Partnerships & Communication - Build positive, trusting relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s learning and wellbeing. - Work collaboratively with local authorities, health visitors, social care, and other agencies. - Represent the nursery professionally in the community.

Requirements - Level 3 or above in Early Years Education & Care (Level 5 preferred). - Significant experience working in an early years setting, with some supervisory or lead experience for at least 2 years. - Up-to-date Safeguarding / Child Protection training (or willingness to complete immediately). - Knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework and Ofsted inspection standards. - Strong understanding of child protection procedures and the duty of care. - Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills. - Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check and full references. - Eligibility to work in the UK. - Valid Peadriatic First Aid
