Full job description

Job Title: Front of House Receptionist – Dental Practice (NHS & Private)

Location: Woodford Green, IG8 9PF
Job Type: Part-Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 4 days per week (Tuesday–Friday) plus 1 Saturday per month on rota
Start Date: ASAP

About Us

We are a busy, friendly, and professional mixed NHS and private dental practice committed to delivering exceptional patient care. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Front of House Receptionist to join our team and become the welcoming face of our practice.

The Role

As our Front of House Receptionist, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice while providing an outstanding experience for our patients. This is a fast-paced position requiring excellent communication, organisational skills, and a positive, professional attitude.

Key Responsibilities

Greeting and welcoming patients in a friendly and professional manner
Managing incoming telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
Booking, confirming, and managing appointments using dental software
Maintaining accurate patient records and contact details
Processing payments and handling daily cashing-up procedures
Liaising with dentists, hygienists, and other team members to ensure smooth clinic operations
Managing patient recalls and follow-up communications
Handling NHS and private patient administration, eg referrals
Ensuring reception and waiting areas are presented to a high standard at all times
Supporting the wider practice team with administrative duties as required

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

Previous reception, customer service, or administrative experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional appearance and manner
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment
Good IT and computer literacy
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team

Preferred:

Previous dental reception experience
Experience working within a mixed NHS and private dental practice
Experience using SOE (Software of Excellence) dental practice management software
