Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Bakery & Cake Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in baking and cake decorating, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and be confident interacting with customers. This role involves assisting with cake preparation and decoration, serving customers, handling payments, and helping maintain high standards throughout the bakery.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with baking and preparing cakes and other baked goods
Decorate cakes according to company standards and customer requirements
Serve customers and provide excellent customer service
Operate the till and process payments accurately
Recommend products and assist customers with cake selections
Help with stock rotation and general shop organisation
Maintain cleanliness and food hygiene standards at all times
Assist with opening and closing duties when required
Support the team during busy periods and seasonal peaks

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

Previous baking experience
Cake decorating experience
Excellent customer service skills
Fluent English communication skills
Previous till/cash handling experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong organisational skills and ability to think quickly
Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Desirable:

Barista experience
Previous experience in a bakery, café, or food retail environment
Food hygiene certification

What We’re Looking For

Someone who is passionate about cakes, enjoys working with people, takes pride in their work, and can remain calm and efficient during busy periods. A creative eye for cake decorating and confidence in helping customers find the perfect cake would be a great advantage.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
