Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Room Leader / Deputy Manager to join our childcare team. The successful candidate will support the Nursery Manager in delivering high-quality early childhood education and care, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with management experience and a passion for working with children to develop their career within a reputable setting. The Deputy Manager will play a vital role in leading staff, organising daily activities, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.

Duties

Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily operations of the nursery or preschool setting.
Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate educational programmes that promote children's development across all areas.
Lead and supervise staff members, ensuring high standards of care and professionalism are maintained at all times.
Contribute to staff training, mentoring, and performance management to foster a motivated team environment.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and Ofsted requirements.
Build positive relationships with children, parents, and external agencies to promote effective communication and partnership working.
Organise activities that stimulate learning, creativity, and social development among children.
Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and welfare needs.
Support the Nursery Manager in managing administrative tasks such as rota planning, resource management, and reporting.

Skills

Proven management and leadership skills within an early years or childcare setting.
Extensive experience working with children, ideally within nurseries or early childhood education environments.
Strong understanding of childcare regulations, safeguarding procedures, and early learning frameworks.
Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to liaise effectively with children, parents, colleagues, and external professionals.
Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are essential; further qualifications in early childhood education are desirable.
Organisation skills with the ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
A caring approach combined with professionalism and patience when working with young children.
Valid driving licence is advantageous for roles requiring travel between settings or community engagement activities.
