Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team at Westville. The successful candidate will support the Commercial department in managing costs, preparing estimates, and ensuring financial efficiency across projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their career within the construction industry, with a focus on cost control and project management.

Duties

Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
Support the procurement process by obtaining quotations and analysing tenders.
Monitor project expenditure and ensure costs are kept within budget.
Assist in valuation of work completed and prepare interim payment applications.
Maintain accurate records of project costs, variations, and contractual documentation.
Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth financial operations.
Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify quantities for billing purposes.
Support the preparation of financial reports and forecasts for senior management.
Contribute to risk management by identifying potential cost overruns early.

Qualifications

A recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
Prior experience or internship within a quantity surveying environment is desirable.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in MS Office applications; experience with cost control software is advantageous.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team under tight deadlines.
Knowledge of construction processes, contractual procedures, and legal aspects is beneficial. This role is ideal for motivated individuals aiming to build a career specialising in cost control within the construction sector, offering valuable experience in project financial management and industry best practices.

Pay: £28,500.00-£35,000.00 per year
