Our site at Birchington is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join their Glasshouse team.

You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our production machinery and equipment. Working across our glasshouse and packing facilities, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns and support continuous improvement activities to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency.

Other responsibilities include:

Carry out planned preventative maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
Diagnose faults and assist with mechanical repairs.
Replace consumable parts and complete routine maintenance activities.
Respond effectively to equipment breakdowns and minimise disruption to production.
Complete inspections and maintenance records accurately.
Work closely with operational teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.

Key Skills & Knowledge

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose faults and identify effective solutions quickly.
Mechanical aptitude and practical maintenance skills.
Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Flexible attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
The ability to read and follow instructions.

”If you're a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in keeping machinery running safely and efficiently, you'll play a vital role within our Engineering team. Your daily responsibilities will include carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, fault-finding and implementing repair solutions to minimise downtime. You'll work closely with colleagues to maintain high operational standards, support continuous improvement and ensure equipment reliability. There may be occasions where you'll be required to support additional production and business needs. Your commitment to safety, teamwork and high-quality maintenance standards is essential.
