The role:

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse ready to take the next step in your leadership journey? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for a motivated and compassionate Deputy Ward Manager to join our dedicated nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity to combine hands-on clinical care with leadership responsibilities, supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care while helping to develop and inspire colleagues. Working within Scotland's largest health board, you will be part of an organisation committed to excellence, innovation, staff development and improving outcomes for the patients and communities we serve.

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Vale of Leven Hospital
12 hour shifts, between Monday to Friday
Permanent, full-time

Key responsibilities:

Support the Ward Manager in the day-to-day leadership and operational management of the ward or department
Lead, coordinate and evaluate high-quality evidence-based nursing care for a defined patient group
Supervise, support and develop registered nurses, healthcare support workers and learners within the clinical team
Contribute to staff rostering, sickness absence management and effective workforce planning
Participate in recruitment, appraisal processes and the development of personal development plans for staff
Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive environment for patients, families, carers and colleagues
Ensure effective use of resources, equipment and clinical systems while maintaining professional and regulatory standards

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

First Level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
Post-registration nursing experience
Relevant post-registration qualification or equivalent experience within the specialty area
Demonstrable clinical expertise with the ability to deliver and lead safe, effective patient care
Strong leadership and people management skills with experience supporting and developing colleagues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across multidisciplinary teams
Ability to use sound judgement, work independently and contribute to service improvement and organisational objectives
