Job Title: Student Services Assistant

Department: Student Services

Contract: Hourly Paid, Permanent

Salary: £14.24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Pension: Nest Pension

The Role

Middlesbrough College is seeking an enthusiastic Student Services Assistant to deliver high-quality support our enrolment and admissions activities, helping prospective and current students access the information, guidance and support they need to begin their college journey successfully.

Key Responsibilities

Resourcing the dedicated Student Support Services Office dealing with face-to-face enquiries using an excellent level of Customer Service at all times.
Responding to general college enquiries by phone and e-mail in a timely manner.
Rigorous and quality checked assessment of Financial Assistance Applications and subsequent communication to applicants.
To provide an impartial, competent, front-line service to members of the public, staff and students regarding college programmes of study including providing initial advice and guidance on these programmes and also on related matters for example finance, childcare, etc.

Qualifications

Qualified to minimum NVQ Level 2 or above in an appropriate area i.e., Business Administration, Customer Service.
Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.

Experience

Experience of dealing with a wide range of people.
Experience in working within a busy office.
Knowledge and understanding of financial assistance available to support learners.
Knowledge of recording systems.

Knowledge & Skills

Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Good organisational skills and the ability to work unsupervised.
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential issues.
Good IT skills.
