Full job description

MIG Welder / Fabricator

We are seeking an experienced and motivated MIG Welder / Fabricator to join our growing fabrication team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with a strong background in mild steel fabrication, MIG welding, and interpreting technical drawings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and welding laser-cut mild steel components into finished frames and fabricated products to a high standard of quality and accuracy. You will be expected to work independently, use your own initiative, and contribute to maintaining efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities

Fabricate and assemble mild steel frames and structures from laser-cut components.
Perform MIG welding to a consistently high standard.
Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings accurately.
Measure, mark out, and prepare materials for fabrication.
Ensure finished products meet quality specifications and tolerances.
Carry out grinding, finishing, and preparation work as required.
Work independently to complete fabrication projects from drawing through to finished product.
Identify and resolve fabrication and assembly issues using practical problem-solving skills.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
Follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience as a MIG Welder / Fabricator.
Strong experience working with mild steel.
Ability to read and work from technical and engineering drawings without supervision.
Experience assembling laser-cut fabricated components.
High standard of MIG welding workmanship.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently to production deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative and work independently.
Good understanding of workshop health and safety requirements.

Desirable Skills

Experience using fabrication machinery and workshop equipment.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Ability to perform basic quality inspections and checks.
Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential).
Experience with jig assembly and production welding.
