We’re recruiting a part-time Support Worker to join our 3-bed supported living home in St Julians, Newport, where no two days are the same and every moment matters. We’re looking for someone who is caring but confident, able to be firm, fair, and consistent, following structured guidance while still bringing warmth and personality to the role. You’ll be joining a supportive, values-driven team in a home that also comes with a friendly house cat for good measure. This is a 20-hour contract with a mix of day shifts (7:30am–2:30pm, 8am–6pm, 4:30pm–10:30pm), some lone working, and a consistent 2 week rota with every other weekend off to support work-life balance. Due to the personal care needs of the individuals we support, this role is open to female applicants only (in line with occupational requirement guidance). If you’re ready to be part of something meaningful where your support truly empowers people to live independently and confidently, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role
In this role, you’ll be supporting three incredible women with complex needs and learning disabilities in their own supported living home. Each individual has her own personality, routines, and strengths, and enjoys being part of her community, whether that’s attending local activities, Boccia sessions, shopping trips, or simply choosing how to spend her day.
Your focus will be on enabling independence through active support, encouraging each person to take part in everyday tasks, make meaningful choices, and live life on her terms. An understanding of dementia is important, including recognising changes in thinking, communication, emotions, and behaviours, and responding in a calm, consistent, and supportive way.
You’ll provide a balance of practical, emotional, and person-centred support. While individuals are largely independent at home, support may include the use of mobility aids (such as wheelchairs or rollators) when out, as well as prompting or assisting with personal care.
Communication is tailored, individuals may use single-word or non-verbal communication, so you’ll follow structured approaches using visuals and agreed scripts as part of a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plan. With clear routines and guidance your support will help maintain stability and provide reassurance.
You’ll play a valued role in their journey, making a genuine difference in supporting them to live independently and confidently.
