Full job description

A Cook is needed to work in our well respected and friendly care home for the elderly, specialising in dementia care for up to 22 residents. Hours are subject to a discussion.

The Job

Are you good at preparing tasty food from scratch? If so, we are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and reliable Cook to join our team in Newton Abbot for a Residential Home caring for people living with Dementia.

Competitive salary £13.50 to £14.00 per hour depending on experience
£150 signing bonus after successful completion of probation period

Alternating weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

Working with our Registered Manager and kitchen team to plan a variety of meals, according to residents tastes and choices
Prepare three meals a day for residents using fresh and local ingredients.
Prepare food to the requirements of each resident, following IDDSI guidelines.
Complete weekly ordering, record keeping and assisting with deep cleaning
Be prepared to perform any other reasonable duties, as requested by the Registered Manager

What you’ll need

Ideally, experience cooking in a care home, but this is not essential
Ideal candidates do not need to be trained chefs, but they must have a passion for cooking and be used to catering for large groups of people by cooking from scratch
Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
A respectful, courteous and compassionate nature and a belief in giving your personal best at all times and striving to improve
