Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for young children in our nursery setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a keen eye for food safety, ensuring all meals meet health standards and dietary requirements. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of children through healthy, well-prepared food.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals and snacks suitable for children in accordance with dietary guidelines and nutritional standards
Assist with meal planning, ensuring a balanced diet that caters to specific dietary needs or allergies
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering strictly to food safety regulations
Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, notifying management when replenishment is necessary
Follow all hygiene protocols during food handling, preparation, and storage
Assist with serving meals to children in a friendly and efficient manner
Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned after use
Support the overall cleanliness of the nursery kitchen environment

Experience

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles, preferably within a childcare or educational setting
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in meal preparation for young children
Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous
Familiarity with culinary techniques suitable for preparing child-friendly meals
Experience with serving food in a professional setting is desirable
