Full job description

We’re looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Yardperson to join our team at Hurkledale Farm, on a full-time and permanent basis. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of a busy dairy farm.

About the role:

Day-to-day duties will include a wide range of yard and livestock support tasks such as:

· General yard work to maintain a clean and safe working environment

· Being responsible for the bedding of livestock pens twice per week

· Overseeing and managing all deliveries arriving at the farm, ensuring vehicles are directed to the correct location and goods are unloaded safely and efficiently

· Taking ownership of all delivery documentation, ensuring delivery notes and other associated paperwork are completed, filed and maintained correctly

· Carrying out routine checks and reporting any issues identified across the farm

· Disposing of any yard waste in line with farm procedures and environmental standards

· Operating farm machinery, including telehandler and tractors

· Assisting with other seasonal or ad hoc farm duties as required, including work on some weekends.

We’re looking for someone who is:

· Reliable, punctual and hardworking

· Able to manage both practical yard duties and administrative responsibilities

· Organised with good attention to detail

· Able to work independently and as part of a team

· Willing to learn and take on a variety of tasks

· Has a telehandler licence (preferred) – training can be provided.

· Interested in farming or has demonstrable on-farm experience

· Full driving licence and able to commute to our farm in Cummertrees, near Annan

· Able to work ad hoc weekends during busy periods

· Competitive salary - £13.60 – £16.00 per hour, depending on experience
