General Manager – The Star Inn Hotel, Upton upon Severn

About Us

The Star Inn Hotel is a thriving 17-bedroom hotel with a busy bar and popular restaurant located in the heart of the beautiful riverside town of Upton upon Severn. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional hospitality, outstanding food and drink, and memorable guest experiences.

We are seeking an ambitious, hands-on General Manager to lead our hotel, bar, and restaurant operation and drive the business forward.

The Role

As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running and commercial success of the hotel. You will lead and inspire a diverse team, ensure exceptional customer service, maximise profitability, and maintain the high standards our guests expect.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional looking to make a significant impact within a well-established independent business.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operation of the hotel, restaurant, and bar
Lead, motivate, and develop departmental managers and team members
Deliver exceptional guest experiences and maintain high service standards
Drive revenue growth across accommodation, food, beverage, and events
Manage budgets, costs, stock control, and financial performance
Recruit, train, and retain a high-performing team
Ensure compliance with all health & safety, licensing, and legal requirements
Monitor guest feedback and implement continuous improvements
Develop local business opportunities and strengthen community relationships
Work closely with ownership to achieve strategic business objectives

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Previous General Manager, Hotel Manager, or senior hospitality management experience
Strong background in hotel, food, and beverage operations
Proven ability to lead teams and drive business performance
Excellent financial and commercial awareness
Outstanding communication and customer service skills
A hands-on, proactive leadership style
Experience managing budgets, labour costs, and stock control
Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
