Job Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Cook and Kitchen Assistants to join our caring team at a reputable nursing home. In this vital role, you will support the culinary needs of our residents by assisting with meal preparation, food service, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Your positive attitude and attention to detail will ensure that residents enjoy nutritious, delicious meals in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and cooking to ensure timely delivery of meals that meet quality standards
Support the kitchen team in meal assembly, portioning, and presentation for residents
Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with health regulations
Serve meals to residents with courtesy and professionalism, ensuring their dietary needs are met
Help keep the kitchen organized, including cleaning utensils, equipment, and work surfaces regularly
Follow all safety procedures during food handling and kitchen operations
Support inventory management by restocking supplies and notifying supervisors of shortages

Qualifications

Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen work is preferred; training will be provided for motivated candidates
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper hygiene practices
Knowledge and understanding of IDDSI and modified diets
Experience working in a restaurant or similar setting is advantageous
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor when serving residents
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
Flexibility to work various shifts as needed
