About the Role

Archidom Materials and Project Supply Services is looking for an organised, accurate and operationally focused Stock Controller to support the effective management of materials, equipment and inventory across our Nottingham operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with warehouse, purchasing, project, finance and logistics teams to maintain accurate stock records, coordinate inventory movements, investigate discrepancies and ensure materials are available when required.

This role is suitable for someone with experience in stock control, inventory management, warehousing, construction materials, logistics or supply operations who is comfortable working with inventory systems, spreadsheets and physical stock.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control: Maintain accurate records of inventory held across warehouse and storage locations.

Inventory Monitoring: Monitor stock quantities and identify shortages, excess stock and unusual movements.

Goods Receiving: Verify incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documentation.

Goods-In Records: Record received quantities accurately within inventory systems.

Delivery Checks: Confirm product codes, descriptions and quantities when materials arrive.

Stock Allocation: Allocate materials and equipment to projects or operational requirements.

Stock Movement: Record transfers between warehouse, project and storage locations.

Inventory Adjustments: Process authorised inventory adjustments accurately.

Cycle Counting: Conduct regular scheduled cycle counts.

Stocktakes: Support full physical inventory counts when required.

Stock Reconciliation: Compare physical inventory with system records.

Variance Investigation: Investigate stock differences and identify likely causes.

Corrective Actions: Coordinate authorised corrections following stock investigations.

Inventory Accuracy: Monitor stock accuracy and highlight recurring discrepancies.

Storage Locations: Maintain accurate warehouse and storage-location records.

Bin Management: Ensure products are allocated to appropriate storage locations.

Material Identification: Make sure materials and equipment are clearly identified.

Labelling: Support accurate product, location and inventory labelling.

Barcode Control: Use barcode or scanning systems where applicable.

Inventory Systems: Maintain accurate information within stock-control or ERP systems.

Data Entry: Enter inventory transactions accurately and promptly.

System Checks: Review inventory information for missing or duplicated records.

Material Availability: Monitor materials required for upcoming project activity.

Project Supply: Coordinate stock requirements with project and operational teams.

Purchasing Support: Provide inventory information to procurement colleagues.

Replenishment: Identify items approaching minimum stock levels.

Reorder Monitoring: Highlight materials requiring additional purchasing action.

Supplier Deliveries: Monitor expected deliveries and outstanding orders.

Delivery Discrepancies: Investigate shortages, damaged goods or incorrect deliveries.

Returns Processing: Maintain accurate records for materials returned to suppliers.

Damaged Stock: Record and appropriately segregate damaged items.

Quarantine Stock: Maintain records for stock awaiting inspection or approval.

Obsolete Inventory: Identify ageing, unused or obsolete materials.

Slow-Moving Stock: Prepare information on inventory with limited movement.

Stock Rotation: Support appropriate stock-rotation procedures.

Project Returns: Process unused materials returned from project locations.

Equipment Records: Maintain inventory information for reusable tools and equipment where required.

Dispatch Checks: Verify outbound quantities against approved requests.

Picking Accuracy: Support investigation of incorrect or incomplete stock issues.

Warehouse Coordination: Work closely with warehouse colleagues to maintain accurate records.

Procurement Coordination: Communicate stock requirements and discrepancies to purchasing teams.

Finance Coordination: Provide inventory information required for financial reconciliation.

Cost Records: Support maintenance of accurate inventory-cost information.

Inventory Reporting: Prepare routine reports on stock quantities and movements.

KPI Monitoring: Track inventory accuracy, adjustments and stock discrepancies.

Trend Analysis: Identify recurring causes of inventory errors.

Document Control: Maintain organised delivery, movement and adjustment documentation.

Audit Support: Provide stock records during internal or external reviews.

Compliance: Follow established inventory and warehouse procedures.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute practical ideas that improve stock accuracy and operational efficiency.

What We Are Looking For

Experience: Previous experience in stock control, inventory management, warehouse operations, logistics, construction supply or a similar environment.

Inventory Knowledge: Good understanding of stock-control and reconciliation processes.

Stock Counting: Experience completing cycle counts or physical stocktakes.

Warehouse Awareness: Understanding of receiving, storage, picking and dispatch activities.

Materials Awareness: Experience working with construction, project or technical materials would be advantageous.

Systems Experience: Familiarity with inventory, warehouse-management or ERP systems.

Data Accuracy: Strong commitment to maintaining accurate stock information.

Analytical Skills: Ability to investigate discrepancies using system and physical records.

Numerical Skills: Confidence working with quantities and inventory figures.

Microsoft Excel: Good spreadsheet skills for stock tracking and reporting.

Attention to Detail: Careful approach to product references, quantities and system transactions.

Organisation: Strong planning and time-management skills.

Problem Solving: Methodical approach to inventory discrepancies.

Communication: Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.

Team Coordination: Ability to work effectively with warehouse, project and purchasing teams.

Prioritisation: Comfortable balancing scheduled stock activity with urgent operational requirements.

Commercial Awareness: Understanding of how inventory accuracy affects project costs and operational efficiency.
