Sports Coach / Behaviour Mentor / Teaching Assistant

Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available

Are you a passionate Sports Coach looking to use your skills outside of coaching sessions? Do you enjoy motivating young people, building positive relationships and helping others reach their potential?

At Classroom Connections, we are looking for enthusiastic Sports Coaches to work within primary and secondary schools as Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors and Learning Support Assistants. This is an excellent opportunity to gain additional daytime hours while making a real difference to the lives of children and young people.

Many of the pupils you will support benefit from positive role models who can build trust, encourage participation and help them develop confidence, resilience and emotional regulation. Your coaching background provides many of the transferable skills schools are looking for.

The Role

You will support pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them to engage in learning, develop social skills and manage their behaviour positively. You may work on a one-to-one basis, in small groups or alongside the class teacher.

Depending on the school, your responsibilities may include:

Supporting pupils with their learning across a range of subjects.
Building positive relationships and acting as a positive role model.
Encouraging engagement, participation and confidence.
Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism or ADHD.
Using sport and physical activity to motivate and engage learners where appropriate.
Supporting behaviour management using positive and restorative approaches.
Assisting teachers with classroom activities and interventions.
Supervising pupils during breaktimes, lunchtime and educational visits where required.

Who We're Looking For

We would love to hear from Sports Coaches who have experience working with children or young people through:

Football
Rugby
Cricket
Athletics
Gymnastics
Martial Arts
Dance
Multi-sports
Community coaching
Holiday clubs
Youth work

You may already hold coaching qualifications or have experience leading groups and mentoring young people.

Essential Requirements

Experience working with children or young people.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A positive, energetic and proactive attitude.
Confidence managing behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
Reliable, flexible and committed.
Willingness to work within a school environment.

Desirable

Previous experience within education, coaching or mentoring.
Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
Relevant coaching qualification.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
