Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of food safety. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in a vibrant café environment, working alongside a dedicated team to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. The position is a seasonal position and suitable for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced setting with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, adhering to company standards.
Serve customers efficiently at the counter or table, ensuring prompt and friendly service.
Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including clearing tables, cleaning equipment, and restocking supplies as needed.
Follow food safety protocols diligently to ensure the wellbeing of customers and staff.
Handle cash transactions accurately using the POS system and manage basic maths calculations for change.
Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure smooth service flow.
Support team members during peak hours by performing additional tasks such as dishwashing or inventory checks.

Experience

Previous barista experience or background in serving food and beverages is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
Knowledge of food safety standards is advantageous.
Experience in food preparation or working in a customer-facing role is beneficial.
Basic maths skills are required for handling transactions accurately.
Strong organisational skills and good time management are essential to prioritise tasks efficiently in a busy environment.
A friendly attitude with excellent communication skills to engage positively with customers and team members.
