Full job description

Before going any further. We are based in Portscatho not Truro. You'll need to either be local or have the ability to drive, public transport doesn't work with required work times.

Tide and Thyme on Instagram to look at our current offerings.

Seeking a kitchen assistant/chef de partie for at least 3 evening shifts a week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) for our pizzeria with the option of lunch and potentially breakfast shifts aswell. Initially this will be for the summer months but work may continue after summer. Feel free to message any questions and for further details

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. This role is ideal for individuals with an interest in catering, cooking, and food preparation, whether you have prior restaurant experience or are eager to develop your culinary skills. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and excellent service delivery.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation and food safety procedures to ensure hygiene standards are maintained.
Support chefs and kitchen staff in preparing ingredients, assembling dishes, and plating food.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts.
Help with organising stock levels, receiving deliveries, and storing ingredients appropriately.
Serve food to customers or staff in a courteous and professional manner when required.
Follow health and safety regulations diligently to ensure a safe working environment.
Support the team during busy periods by efficiently managing multiple tasks as needed.

Requirements

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or a restaurant environment is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is key.
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices within a kitchen setting.
Basic cooking skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques.
Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks within the kitchen environment.
A positive attitude towards learning new skills and contributing to a collaborative team atmosphere.

Pay: £12.71-£13.50 per hour
