Full job description

About the role

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented experienced Medical Secretary to join our admin team. The role is based in a fast-paced environment and the suitable candidate will be able to navigate often challenging situations. The ideal candidate would have a good knowledge of medical terminology, topics ranging from medication, to radiology findings, and particularly skin problems and Orthopaedics.

You will need to be highly organised with the ability to multitask, work under pressure, and handle shifting priorities while maintaining attention to detail. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to work well within the team, whilst able to use your own initiative to resolve problems and be able to effectively communicate information both orally and in writing.

Overall responsibilities and day-to-day duties

Typing clinical letters for our consultants from dictation, clinical reports and notes as required
Updating correspondence databases / spreadsheets to track communications
Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence from patients, other medical secretaries and third parties by phone, email, and letter as required.
Managing availability and scheduling of consultants for the hospital, entering confirmed availability onto the system and keeping clinical teams and bookings updated on changes.
Liaising with the clinical team and bookings lead to manage the consultant availability and capacity within the hospital.
Communicating and coordinating with booking and clinical teams to ensure we book patients into services taking into consideration consultation outcomes, treatments or diagnostics required, and timeframes requested.
Managing consultant expectations and enquiries, with exceptional customer service level answering or escalating all questions and enquiries in a timely manner as appropriate.
To safely handle and use confidential information, understanding the processes of confidentiality within the hospital, and when communicating with third parties.
Work with wider admin teams to collate documents required for medical records
Provide excellent customer service experience, remaining polite and eager to assist consultants, patients and colleagues alike.
Maintain professional and courteous working relationships with staff and respect the equality and diversity of each and every person.
Any other adhoc admin duties as required within your skillset

Pay: £25,760.00-£27,476.00 per year
