Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Shop Assistant to join our team in providing excellent customer service and supporting daily operations within our establishment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, experience in restaurant or kitchen environments, and a keen eye for detail. This role offers an opportunity to develop culinary and hospitality skills while contributing to a welcoming and efficient service environment. The Shop Assistant will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, serving customers, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

Prepare food items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring quality and presentation.
Serve customers efficiently, taking orders accurately and providing friendly assistance.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop area, including kitchen and serving spaces.
Uphold food safety standards at all times, adhering to hygiene protocols.
Assist with basic kitchen tasks such as ingredient organisation, stock replenishment, and equipment cleaning.
Support upselling initiatives by suggesting additional items or specials to customers to enhance their experience.
Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service and order fulfilment.
Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments using the point-of-sale system.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a restaurant, café, or food service environment is desirable.
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety regulations.
Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts.
Experience with serving customers in a fast-paced setting.
Kitchen or culinary experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods.
Excellent communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanour. This role provides an excellent platform for individuals passionate about hospitality and culinary arts to grow their skills within a supportive team environment.
