SCOPE OF ROLE

As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll report to a Senior/Managing Quantity Surveyor and support the commercial delivery of a range of civil engineering and utility contracts.

You’ll be involved across both pre- and post-contract activities — from assisting with pricing and procurement through to valuations, variations, and cost reporting. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility and strong support to help you develop into a more senior position.

HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED

Support the management of subcontractor accounts, including applications, payments, and variations
Assist with tendering and pricing activities, including commercial reviews
Prepare and support applications for payment and valuations
Help manage variations and change control across projects
Contribute to cost reporting and CVRs
Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
Identify and flag commercial risks and support mitigation strategies
Work closely with delivery teams to ensure alignment between commercial and operational objectives

WHAT IT TAKES

Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or utilities
Working knowledge of NEC contracts (JCT exposure beneficial)
Good commercial awareness and eagerness to develop
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to build relationships with internal teams and subcontractors
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (experience with tools like Envision is a plus)

A full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car is essential for this role due to regular travel requirements between sites.
