BARISTA — MELLO Part-time, Permanent

Mello is a speciality coffee and French toast destination: The first location from the family behind Caramello Cafés in Didsbury. We're looking for a Barista who takes genuine pride in their work and understands that consistency is the job.

You're not here to press a button and hand over a cup. You're here because coffee matters to you, because pulling a well-extracted espresso at 8am on a Monday carries exactly the same weight as it does on a Saturday afternoon. At Mello, craft is the standard.

What You'll Do

Prepare and serve speciality coffee and espresso-based drinks to a consistent, exceptional standard on every shift
Must demonstrate strong milk foaming technique. Correct texture, temperature, and pour for each drink format, every time.
Produce confident, clean latte art on every applicable drink
Assist with dialling in espresso and keeping grinder settings accurate alongside the manager
Maintain a clean, organised, and well-run bar throughout service — station care is part of the craft
Engage warmly and knowledgeably with guests in an approachable, non-pretentious way
Support preparation of Mello's French toast and dessert menu items during service as required
Follow all food hygiene and health & safety procedures diligently

What You'll Need

Solid, demonstrable experience as a barista in a speciality or quality-led café environment
Proven milk texturing skills: you know the difference between stretched and steamed, and you hit the right consistency for flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos, and cortados — every time
Confident latte art — at minimum hearts poured cleanly,consistently.
A genuine understanding of coffee: extraction, grind, dose, yield, and how they interact
Meticulous attention to detail and a personal investment in the quality of what leaves the bar.
A reliable, punctual, and team-first mindset — Mello's consistency depends on everyone, every shift.

What Makes You Stand Out

Experience working with single origin coffees and an understanding of their distinct cup profiles
Familiarity with the EK grinder or similar precision grinders
Enthusiasm for expanding your coffee knowledge through tastings, cuppings, and continued learning
Experience in a dessert, brunch, or food-led café environment
