GENERAL ASSISTANT

Job Description/Person Specification

About the role:

As a General Assistant at Chestnut Healthcare Group, you will carry out a range of tasks to help us provide the quality care and support our residents deserve.

No two days will be the same as you take on diverse responsibilities across housekeeping, cleaning. Laundry. Catering and care. It is because this is a wide-reaching role that you will be able to play your own part in creating a warm and homely environment.

Caring and empathetic, as a General Assistant you will put our residents first and build the kind of positive relationships with them that make their experience with us happy and meaningful.

Day to Day Tasks:

· Cleaning residents’ bedrooms, communal areas, toilets, bathrooms, sluices and sundry offices

· Carrying out laundry duties

· Helping out at mealtimes (i.e. serving or assisting residents, clearing/resetting tables, supporting in the kitchen etc)

· Accompanying residents, as an escort, to appointments

· Carrying out other appropriate activities for the role, support the delivery of our service

Responsibilities:

· Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with other professionals, relatives and residents

· Enhancing and respecting the quality of life of our residents and their relatives

· Maintaining consistently high-quality standards

· Problem-solving and dealing effectively with issues. Reporting Health and Safety issues or repairs appropriately

· Correct use of protective clothing

· Maintaining and storing equipment appropriately

· Respecting and empathising with older people with sensory disabilities, to enhance their quality of life and raise self-esteem

· Working effectively and flexibly as part of a team to cover colleagues in their absence (sickness or annual leave etc)

· Good communication skills to remove barriers and build strong relationships with colleagues, residents and relatives.
