TRANSPORT COORDINATOR

ABC Travel (Wokingham) Ltd
Full-Time | Wokingham / Reading Area

ABC Travel is looking for an organised, confident and proactive Transport Coordinator to join our busy operations team.

We are an established specialist home-to-school transport provider, working with local authorities, private schools and families. We provide mainstream and SEND transport using a diverse fleet ranging from 4-seater vehicles and wheelchair-accessible vehicles to minibuses and larger passenger vehicles.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role at the heart of our daily operation. The successful candidate will help coordinate school transport routes, drivers and Passenger Assistants and ensure services run safely, efficiently and reliably.

Main Responsibilities

Coordinate the daily operation of home-to-school transport routes.
Allocate drivers, Passenger Assistants and vehicles to routes.
Organise cover for sickness, holidays and unexpected absences.
Respond quickly to breakdowns, delays and operational changes.
Communicate daily with drivers and Passenger Assistants.
Liaise professionally with local authorities, schools and parents.
Manage route changes, new passengers, cancellations and timetable amendments.
Assist with planning and setting up new routes.
Monitor journeys and deal with delays or service issues.
Record and follow up incidents and complaints.
Support drivers and Passenger Assistants when difficulties arise on routes.
Ensure important information regarding pupils and routes is communicated appropriately to crews.
Assist with safeguarding concerns and escalate them appropriately.
Maintain accurate route, staff and operational information.
Work closely with the compliance, administration, fleet and workshop teams.
Help ensure continuity and consistency of crews wherever possible.
Provide excellent customer service to schools, councils, families and passengers.

The Person We Are Looking For

You will need to be:

Extremely organised and able to multitask.
Confident working in a busy and sometimes unpredictable environment.
A strong communicator both by telephone and email.
Calm under pressure and able to find solutions quickly.
Confident dealing with drivers, Passenger Assistants, parents, schools and local authorities.
Reliable and able to take responsibility.
Computer literate, with good administrative skills.
Able to prioritise several urgent tasks at the same time.
Professional, approachable and a good team player.
Committed to safeguarding and providing a high standard of service.

Experience within transport, logistics, school transport, SEND transport, passenger transport or a similar coordination role would be an advantage.

Knowledge or experience of working with children and young people with SEND would also be beneficial.

Full training on ABC Travel's systems and procedures will be provided. 3 months trial
