Make a difference in your local community

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Community Health and Wellbeing Worker (CHWW) to support households in Camborne.

This role focuses on improving health and wellbeing, reducing inequalities, and helping people access the support they need. You’ll work directly with residents, building trusted relationships and connecting them to local services, community groups, and opportunities.

This is part of an innovative programme across West Cornwall, focused on prevention, personalised support, and non-medical approaches to health and wellbeing.

No direct experience? A trainee role may be available for the right candidate with the right values, motivation, and potential.

N.B - Trainee roles will be offered at a reduced salary with a lighter caseload and structured development support

Hours: Part-time, Fixed-Term to March 2028 (extension subject to funding)

22.5 hours per week (3 days per week), or
25.25 hours per week (3 days one week, 4 days the next)

Flexible and family-friendly working arrangements available.

Key responsibilities

Build trusted relationships with local households through visits, outreach and phone contact (including door knocking)
Identify needs and support people to access health, social and community services
Use a coaching and trauma-informed approach to support positive change
Encourage participation in community activities and wellbeing initiatives
Promote health messages (e.g. screening, immunisations, healthy lifestyles)
Work with GP practices, social prescribing teams and partner organisations
Maintain accurate records and follow GDPR requirements

About you

Essential

Strong people skills – approachable, compassionate and non-judgemental
Understanding of challenges faced by people in disadvantaged communities
Good communication, listening and relationship-building skills
Organised and able to work independently
Confident using IT systems and keeping accurate records
Flexible and adaptable in a community-based role
Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
Confidence working in group settings and with partner organisations
Willingness to learn (training provided)

Desirable

Experience in community, outreach, health, or support roles
Knowledge of local services and community networks
Lived experience or connection to the local area
